Relocating and Extending Temperature Sensor Lines

UPDATE 11/19/2022: We have had reports of the 75 ft and the 100 ft cables having intermittent issues reading the temperature sensor value. The sensor will briefly read -196°F and cause the controller to turn the pump off. We were able to reproduce this issue in our lab and have determined that a modification to the Smart Recirculation Control 32 hardware will resolve the issue. We have had no reports of issues with cables of 50 ft or less and have confirmed in our lab they work fine. If you have attempted to use a 75 ft or 100 ft temp sensor extension and experienced intermittent erroneous temp sensor readings you can return the controller to us and we will perform the hardware modification. Please contact customer support for information on returning your controller.

Extending Temperature Sensor Cables

We have had people ask if it is possible to relocate the temperature sensors by extending the line connecting the temperature sensor to the wiring harness.  We had always responded with “no” because of support issues.  But after receiving multiple inquiries asking if it could be extended by 75 ft. we decided to give it a try and are happy to report that the test was successful. We decided to go one further and test it out to 100 ft. and that test was successful as well. We have not attempted any length beyond that. We now manufacture temperature sensor extension cables designed and tested to work with the Smart Recirculation Control family of products.
 
If you would like to eliminate heating up a large section of your return plumbing, you can purchase one of these extension cables and relocate the temp sensor at the end of your recirculation loop to a location just after the last hot water fixture.
